What is the PTA?
Higher Lane PTA is a registered charity. It is made up of a group of volunteer parents and teachers who work together to raise additional funds for the school community.
What do the PTA do?
The PTA raises additional funds through a wide range of school-based activities and events.
These include things like:
- family nights
- market stalls and fairs
- parties
- raffles
- tuck shops
What happens to the money that is raised?
All the funds raised are used to support the school community, such as school grounds improvements, extracurricular activities, and experiences.
The money raised by the PTA have funded:
- the pirate ship in the KS1 playground
- the canopy in the KS2 playground
- pantomime performances
- Disney+ licenses
Who decides what the money is used for?
Parents and teachers which are part of the PTA will allocate how the funds are spent based on parent feedback and school priorities.
How can I help?
There are lots of ways you can support the PTA, whatever time you can give will be much appreciated!
Here are some easy ways you can help:
Easyfundraising
One of the easiest ways you can help support us is by shopping through Easyfundraising.org.uk. Easyfundraising partners with over 7,000 brands who will donate part of what you spend to a cause of your choice. It won't cost you any extra. The cost is covered by the brand.
Brands include Argos, John Lewis, Dunelm, Tesco, Trainline and many more!

Employer match funding
Many companies and organisations offer employees the chance to boost their fundraising efforts by ‘matching’ the money they raise. So, if you raise £100 for Higher Lane PTA, your company will match this by donating £100 too! Each company has their own application process, so check with your work whether they offer this.
Employer supported volunteer days
Some companies and organisations offer you paid leave to participate in volunteering activities for charities. This means you can support Higher Lane PTA at events without having to take annual leave! Check your work’s volunteering policy whether this is something they offer.
Buying stock
When we run our tuck shops at school, we need some volunteers to stock up the treats! This could be packet of crisps, chocolate bars, fruit or ice lollies. You simply go to the supermarket, bulk buy and drop them off at school. You will be fully reimbursed as long as you provide the Chair with a receipt.
Provide support at an event
For parties, fairs and tuck shops, we require a small team to help co-ordinate, organise and run these events. Usually this is for a couple or a few hours.
Donate to our raffles
We run raffles throughout the year and thanks to the generosity of parents and local businesses we have had some great prizes on offer. When we need raffle prizes, we will post this on the school’s newsletter.
